Elaine of Astolat
Elaine of Astolat was a lady from the castle of Astolat who fell in love with Sir Lancelot. Her love was unrequited, and she died of grief.
Elaine was a beautiful and kind woman. She was also a skilled weaver. She spent her days weaving a tapestry of the story of Lancelot and Guinevere.
One day, Lancelot came to Astolat. He was on his way to Camelot for a tournament. Elaine was smitten with him the moment she saw him. She gave him a token of her love, a silken scarf.
Lancelot was flattered by Elaine's attention, but he was already in love with Guinevere. He did not return Elaine's love.
Elaine was heartbroken. She went to Camelot to see Lancelot one last time. She died of grief on the way.
Lancelot was devastated by Elaine's death. He buried her at Astolat, and he built a chapel over her grave.
Elaine's story is a tragic tale of unrequited love. But it is also a story of a woman's strength and resilience. Elaine never gave up on her love, even though it was unrequited.
